They proudly state that it is a "180 gr. Audiophile Pressing", but then opt for the cheapest paper innersleeves. That being said, this is an album of great, colorful and lively production that really transports you to Malibu with your eyes closed. Anderson Paak is an infectious bundle of energy. I've had the pleasure of seeing him live and I can assure you that he gives 120% on stage too. He consistently delivers unique and interesting flows throughout the album, which make up for his lyrics, which ittedly aren't on Kendrick's level. But that doesn't have to be the case with every rapper. The album is chock-full of good features, but overall it's a little bit too long. It would be even better if the tracklist was 1/2 tracks shorter. However, not a single song on the album is a bad song, not even a mediocre one to be honest. The album is well mixed and feels very "live". It has a nice separation of instruments and throughout there are beautiful, warm, layered and colorful instrumentals to sink into. The vocals are also mixed very well and occupy the space really well. Only The Game sounds a bit thin, which can also be due to his engineer.
About the material: The vinyl is 180 g as d. and of high quality. No surface noise, the size of the punched hole is just right, the disc is flat and centered, and it's not cut off with sharp edges. -
