Not as sonically stupendous as I was hoping for, but the music is great and makes you forget that it comes at you in one mushy wall, undistinguished by dynamics such as high end, low end or clarity.

As far as I can tell, this album turns 40 years old today -- March 23rd. I am cranking it at home now during the coronavirus pandemic as a way to help enjoy my time while being stuck inside.

Edited 11 years agoThe last of the Gregg Rolie-era Journey albums (except for the live album, 'Captured' and the obscure soundtrack 'Dream, After Dream'), before the keyboard-bloated arena rock of the Jonathan Cain years. A long, long way from the more esoteric and entertaining albums of 1975-77. Some weak tracks on this disc, but enough decent music to make the overall experience enjoyable.
