IMO this is Hawkwind's best complete album, I own this original UK blue pressing and the first German press on black vinyl, Hawkwind - Levitation, and I have to say I prefer the German press. The OG blue press sounds thin and a little harsh in comparison, the German press having a fuller and smoother sound. But it's a great album either way, Ginger on drums and Huw on guitar is hard to beat.

Edited one year agoTerrific album, the first one I bought of HW in 1981 - a great start. I subsequently collected everything else they released until 2017, but still rate this as one of their top 3.

i have gone off hawkwind lately due to mr brock's monotone "singing" but this album stands out to me as one of their best due in no small part to ginger baker and tim blake being involved.

For any man or woman who likes their rock, this really should be in your collection. If it's not, then shame on you and fix that

Hawkwind are back on track here, possibly my 2nd favourite line-up after the one with Lemmy.. Ginger Baker is by far their best drummer, though apparently Dave brock didn't like that (or something .. coz he was getting all the attention- or something ..) .
We all so have Huw LLoyd-Langton (sadly missed) doing stuff just right ..

This really is an outstanding Hawkwind album and perhaps their truly last great recording, IMHO. Focused (not always one of Hawkwind's attributes!) and pummeling hard-edged Rock N Roll. Ginger Baker is in fine form on the skins and not simply going thru the motions. Guitar riffs and songwriting are consistently excellent, too. They just don't make 'em like this anymore....
