i agree with comment below and i compared this to a vg copy of a 1983 warner 1st press and this 1 is just as punchy and rocks

Edited 6 months agoNot sure what others are talking about, this sounds awesome! Lacks a bit of punch, but is flat and fairly quiet. It'll really come down to how your setup sounds. I have a 7.2 Denon receiver with two tower speakers, and two subs. With a Fluance turntable, using a red Ortofon cartridge.
So personally for me, it sounds great!
Edit: the record did have some smudges on it, that cleaned right up. But no scratches -
Edited 12 months agoYeah the mix isn't the greatest and doesn't feel very powerful. But do you know what else isn't the greatest mix and doesn't feel very powerful? The version of this that's available on Spotify that I can only assume was the original mix. It sounds fine, the exact kind of mix that I'm used to on this album, and yet it still kicks some HARD ass

Edited one year agoBeen looking for the 1st press or reissue but i manage to get this 2021 remastered new. The sound is not balanced. Quite a bump on the high frequency . The mids and lows are ok and almost no surface noise . The details are there and for the price its fine but if you got an option for another pressing can give it a try . Holy diver is forever a gem .

I'm really happy with how it sounds. It needed a cleaning though. Very detailed and enjoyable listen. Lots of body too. I've grown up with this album since it's original release back in the day. I've had multiple copies and releases over the years. It's nice to see the yellow/orange Vertigo label back again. Note: I bought my copy in late May 2023.

Was so glad to finally get a copy of this - a fav of mine - album.
The mix is total ass. No bass and highs aren't that crisp either. Totally midrangy. Sounds like played through a 70s portable transitor radio.
Positives are the innersleeve looks good, but use a jap innersleeve within it to prevent scratches.
Atleast I got one now, but will look for a better copy in the future. -
Too bad . Great album weak pressing.
Lacks dynamics,bas and overal power.
My 1983 Dutch pressing is so much better.
Missed chance. -
Some slight scratches are on the disc, but fortunately they aren't audible. Low surface noise, clear sound with appropriate "bite". Bass is lacking a bit. Mine came without a code. Decent re-release for a fair price, but nothing special.

There’s a Walmart version coming out on two lp’s on black marble with a different cover. Just ordered mine. Go to Walmart.com

I haven’t opened it yet, because I just bought the $17 five CD-pack of classic Dio albums and the remastered version of Holy Diver sounds so good it might sound better than the vinyl I shelled out $30 for. Does anybody else have cover art that is very dark, or is just mine?
