This one doesn't rip / not recognised in a PC drive so unable to rip (using dbPoweramp CD Ripper) - so you may want to avoid this version if that is important to you -
This copy is based on the 1986 Nimbus CD pressing, dynamic range values here: https://dr.loudness-war.info/album/view/79384
I really don't get the hate behind this pressing, my copy plays fine and sounds fine to me, even though I still prefer the unique Canadian mastering. -
Edited 2 years agoThis CD was my first proper experience with Joy Division and the mastering on this release was so godawful that it nearly put me off JD forever -
I have a copy of this one, can't where I got it, but the audio is awful. CD was brand new when I ordered it, put it on my stereo and and the entire album had a sound of sandpaper in the background. Tried a few different players, same result, so I'm not sure what the issue is but I'm on the look out for a better copy. I'll keep this as a document of the album and try to find a replacement. I just wonder if anyone else noticed the audio was poor too. -
Edited 9 years agoThe sleeve print on my copy is way too dark. Not with the nice lighting as seen on the image posted here. A shame because it's a beautiful cover art
Edit: I went to the store and took a look at another one of these and it's sleeve print was wrong too. The coloring of the background was way uneven and ugly.
Edit 2. I went to the local record collector shop and finally found myself a copy of this CAT that was fine. I would recommend buyers to ask sellers for info on the print sleeve before buying -
