My second favorite Venom record behind "Welcome To Hell"..... how is this album not more popular. Chanting Of The Priests and Black Xmas are probably two of my all time fav Venom songs. This is mandatory.

Edited 3 years agoI have this memory which I can't square with reality. Back in the mid to late 1980s, I was always going to this record store in Brea CA called Black Hole Records. Many times I would go in there and browse and come across the Venom LP Calm Before the Storm. The front cover was a photograph of a dark night sky with a lightning bolt coming down. There was no border or frame around it, the photo went all way the edge of the cover. The Venom logo was the same shape as always, but for some reason it had a "stars & stripes" motif. About half of the logo was blue with white stars, and the rest was red and white stripes. Why would a UK band adorn their logo with USA symbolism? No idea. But I could swear I saw this record on multiple occasions. I never saw it anywhere but that one record store, and it drives me crazy that it's not listed as one of the seemingly infinite versions of the album. Did I hallucinate it? Is my memory that fucked up?

This probably exactly the same as the 'UK' release-hard to tell as there is no pic of back cover.of the 'UK issue' Fairly common for either the disc or cover to be manufactured in a different country
