Edited 4 months agoBeautiful pressing, this album really comes alive with this LP. I am literally blown away. Very low noise floor and no surface noise, period. Crank it up and it feels like the Unit and playing just for me. If you want a great sounding album that sounds even better on vinyl, pick it up.
The 96kHz 24bit was a nice bonus. -

This album avoids the major pitfalls that some previous Isbell albums fell into (muddled production, skips, large amounts of crackle) and sounds really good. I don't have a single crack or pop throughout the entire album which is really fantastic during songs like Only Children and St. Peter's Autograph. Gorgeous album.

Another stellar album for Jason Isbell with the 400 Unit. Musically, the album continues where The Nashville Sound left off—a mixed bag of guitar-heavy rockers and acoustic ballads. The whole album sounds larger than its predecessors, but manages to keep a sense of intimacy. The songwriting feels the most direct and personal since Southeastern, with Only Children an early favorite. The recording sounds fantastic. All instruments and vocals are clear: Jason's newly acquired 59 Les Paul "Red Eye" prominently features in the mix and really shines on the opening track. Finally, it is nicely packaged in a sturdy gatefold with informative inner sheet.
