Such a fun record with great sound. The drums do sound a bit forward but it’s still very enjoyable. My copy was flat and sounds great. When I get a bad pressing I try to send it back.
-
Not a great pressing. As others have already documented, I heard a ton of "fuzz" (to the point where I thought it was the needle/stylus) and distortion. Great album from Hancock. Mediocre pressing.
-
Picking up this record is like playing the lottery. Some people may have won the jackpot with a perfect pressing. I, on the other hand, picked up a whammy - all sorts of no-fill and distortion all over the record. Total disappointment.
-
Mine plays perfectly. I notice zero distortion during Triangle, even though I was made hyper aware that there might be. Technics 1300 AT540ML. Maybe some people need to switch to a DD :D
-
Sounds good but a fair amount of wow/flutter on side B which isn’t great. Don’t know if it’s my copy of the recording the piano sound too wobbly for me
-
I got a good copy and imho this is far better sounding than most of the famous blue notes. Cleaned B4 playing, with RCM, as with all purchases I make now. The artistry from the pianist and his fellow musicians is refreshingly original and exquisitely crafted.
-
Spectacular! My first copy like that of many others’ was riddled with distortion. I sent it back and got another copy from a different seller (these can tend to be bad in batches) and the second copy was perfect.
-
Just picked one up and there was terrible distortion bits all over the record. The usual Optimal shit.

I'm extremely happy with this pressing. Flat and VERY quiet with good channel separation. Bass, mids and treble are on point. Blue Note also provided a lined inner sleeve, which was a welcome sight. Even if this isn't the best pressing, I'm still satisfied and recommend it to Hancock fans who can't find an OG copy. It's easily the best $27 I spent in a while!!!

It seems like I lucked out, or perhaps there's new pressing run. Perfectly flat, and no noise at all except 1 quick zip from a non fill spot (as is sadly sometimes common with these blue note classics). Overall very enjoyable
