the extended remix is superb. Purchased this as an import 12" in 1985. Still playing this remix multiple times weekly. My number one track off all time.
The quality of the remix on a japanese pressing of the High priority cd is also excellent. Highly recommended

Produced by hit-making Minneapolis duo Flyte Time (Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis) and released in October of 1985, it’s featured on her album ‘High Priority’ and as a single it peaked at #2 on US R&B charts and #26 on the Hot 100. Co-starring 80s R&B legend Alexander O’ Neal, the song alternates verses by the two, taking turns reminiscing on the love they once shared, a memory sparked, the flame reignited by seeing each other once again, after a long time. I love the lowkey shade thrown in the sassy spoken intro…

“Its been a long time / I didn't think I was going to see you again
See you haven't changed / Its good to see you anyway”

On the surface, it can appear as a happy love song. But there is a deep hurt inside, a lover's wound that never healed. There’s a soft-spoken verse by Cherrelle that always brings it home for me..

“I thought we'd always be together/ But sometimes things just don't work out like we planned/ Life goes on and people grow out of things that fit before/
But Saturday remains the same/ And I hope it'll never change”

A love they can still share after everything. Their Saturday Love. That day they met. It gets me everytime.

Still, the chanting chorus of ALL the days in the week hints at something more. That they’ll probably always share a love, everyday, forever, because that's how deep this one cut…
“Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Love”

I play this almost every week and it never fails to get a ionate reaction. So many people have told me “This is my song!!” and I relate. It's a stone cold classic and still gets radio airplay today! Thank you for the music Cherrelle and Alexander O’ Neal. We will always have our Saturday Love.
