Notes
True RCA Record Club First Press.
Appears to be an RCA Indianapolis Plant pressing given the 'I' in the run out.
Comes with 3-D bubble like illustration printed on "Lenticular" plastic glued to the center of the front sleeve.
Label Nuances:
The text of 'Side 1' and 'Side 2' combines both upper and lower case lettering vs all subsequent releases using all caps. Below both 'Side 1' and 'Side 2' is printed the word 'Stereophonic'. This does not appear on any subsequent releases.
Side 1 has printing: ' 0105', beneath which is printed (S40,196), beneath which is printed 'R113391 A'. Track 1: DANCING MADLY BACKWARDS, has '( ON A SEA OF AIR)' printed beneath it vs consecutively on all other 1972 releases. All titles have a long dash between the song title and track timing. There are no dashes on any subsequent releases.
Side 2 has printing: ' 0105', beneath which is printed (S40,197), beneath which is printed 'R113391 B'. Track 3: THOUSAND DAYS OF YESTERDAYS, has '(Time Since Come and Gone)' printed beneath it vs consecutively on all other releases. With the exception of Track 3, all titles have a long dash between the song title and track timing. There are no dashes on any subsequent releases.
Label credit nuances: Sentences are different lengths, dash before ASCAP is long vs short, and wording is reshuffled to read: 1st line: '℗ 1972 Capricorn' 2nd line: 'Records Inc'. All other releases: 1st line: '℗ 1972' 2nd line: 'Capricorn Records Inc'.
All selections composed by Bobby Caldwell and
Rod Evans, arranged by Captain Beyond,
published by Starship Music — ASCAP
℗ 1972 Capricorn
Records Inc.
Versus all other releases:
All selections composed by Bobby Caldwell and
Rod Evans, arranged by Captain Beyond, published

℗ 1972
Capricorn Records Inc.
Original 1972 inner sleeve was simple rounded plain white paper. (The light tan colored Capricorn 'sea-goat' logo was not placed into circulation until 1974. Therefore, 1972 releases listed showing this as the inner is incorrect.)

Edited 4 years agoThis copy looks like an rca record club copy. The labels designate this as one. As far as the promo slip added in the pics, very doubtful this came with this certain release, as only a promo copy would have this. Even the matrix mentions the I as in being pressed at the RCA Indianapolis pressing plant. This has to be a club copy

Edited 5 years agoI've had one for many years, first heard it 1973. Found it at a head shop in El Paso Texas. This is no doubt the coolest rock album of the 1970's. Every song is worth it's weight. No duds whatsoever!

I am the original owner of this pressing. Purchased in Summer 1972 the day it was delivered to the record store. Have never seen one like it .... so far.
