Edited 7 months agoI don't like the setlist at all. Needs to play anything and everything from Here We Rest and leave much of the newer stuff out of his live repertoire. Sorry, not sorry, but IMHAHO the quality of Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit's music has varied inversely with his level of success, which is certainly not an uncommon phenomenon when it comes to famous rock stars. Which kinda sucks for me because Here We Rest is an absolute masterpiece, one of those albums I have to listen to all the way through because every song is great, and it's sequenced in such a way that each song triggers memory of the song that's coming next (or maybe I've just listened to it that many times). Doesn't suck for Jason though of course, and I'm sure he truly deserves it. I do enjoy his Stones covers too, and Danko/Manuel and a couple songs here and there off the other albums, but none of them are anywhere near as strong as Here We Rest IMHAHO, I mean nowhere near as good. Here We Rest should have won the grammy, not the other one Southeastern or whatever'er. I love his success story of victory over alcohol addiction at this point more than his more recent music.
