Edited 3 months agoFirst off, this is a masterpiece of the psych/acid folk genre, bar none. As someone who owns the original and this secretly Canadian repress I can say with confidence that the remastered repress is a disappointment in comparison to the original. There was NO reason to mess with the mix. The original retains all of the studio banter, the kidds and the mix which is far more engrossing.
Many of Bobb's recorded songs also feature highly experimental sound layering and effects, inspired by those used on Beatles tracks such as "I Am the Walrus" and "Tomorrow Never Knows". These effects only deepen the dimension of head/heart axis in his music. The repress removed some of the layers and sounds muddled as a result while the original has all of the layers and can be heard with amazing separation. Brilliant mix!
The SC repress sounds like something is off with the speed, cuts out parts/tracks on the mixing board on some of the songs and is overall a wonky sound. Since there is most likely less than the 300 pressed to be found (in 40+ years I am sure some of the original pressings were lost to damage etc…) this repress is what most will get to spin. Unfortunate but better than nothing I guess. Just don’t make any judgements on what you think of it based on this repress. The original provides an entirely different experience, a far better one at that! -
Such an amazing album! I’m sad that the LP version didn’t get all the great photos and liner notes that the CD reissue got. Rare case where I’ll keep both formats.

Edited 11 months agoAmazing psych-folk-pop album from the early 80’s, but that sounds as if it has been recorded in the early 2000’s.
This is a hidden masterpiece, not to be underestimated ! Terrific melodies, good pressing, cheap price - just go for it while you can ! -
I 100% agree with PsychedelicGuy's sentiment...it's criminal that this amazing album is available so affordably! What a great repress of an incredible album. Avoid that horrible Radioactive boot and go straight for this release instead. Personally I prefer this over his first album "Iron Curtain Innocence"

It's almost a crime this magic is available for so cheap. Secretly Canadian did the world a huge favor.
