Edited 3 months agoAfter recording and releasing his masterpiece, Secrets of the Beehive, David Sylvian fell victim to a crippling insecurity resulting in an inability to create music as a solo artist and resorting to projects in collaboration with others. The first of these resulted in a pair of albums in association with Holger Czukay formerly of German band Can.
Not being a novice at producing ambient music (see Alchemy - an Index of Possibilities and the second disc of Gone to Earth) Sylvian and Czukay created four long pieces and released them as Plight & Premonition (1988) and Flux & Mutability (1989). Lovely music to my ears (Plight & Premonition being the more successful of the two in my opinion), but aural wallpaper (and worse) to others, i imagine. -
Edited 3 years agoPlight & Premonition is ok, great sound, I don't see the problem if the versions are slightly different on these kind of experimental pieces. Flux has too many little clicks, especially towards the second half, they are annoying and inacceptable for a brand new item. As for "Mutability, it's quiet & the sound is deep & just what we expect from vinyls.

these vinyls are dirty from new, took some cleaning and they play excellent once done. the sound on the new release has differences to the originals so you are in for a surprise. Worthy additions o your collection
