A dive into the great blue sea of the mediterean, everything is blue and the warmth of the sun, feels like Formentera. Listening to this I'm there. But due to covid I can't, this helps a lot!

Edited 5 years agoI don't feel like this record is too much of a divergence in sound from what you get with Deepchord *but* there's something about the first track (Immersion I) that might make it my personal favorite......it seems to have a better blend of ambient atmosphere...and a great groove...but also someone comment on liking the "higher BPM", I totally agree, that's a nice touch........very cool stuff but probably not for everyone I'm sure...my friends still don't get this guys music, too bad for them. :p

I pitch this down a little and it unfolds like an aquatic and deeply submerged Burial meets Drexciya. Wonderfully hypnotic and calming.

The uptempo reminds me of Monolake's Polaroid.. mixes pretty well with it too. I'm liking this high BPM Deepchord a lot myself.

Rod Modell returns as Deepchord for his first solo release on Astral Industries since inaugurating the label with his sought-after ‘Lanterns’ EP. Consisting of two stunning long-form pieces split on one side each, `Immersions¿ captures the emotive, halcyon sound that Rod has long become synonymous with. Opening with glistening ambient textures, ‘Immersion I’ grows into an 18-minute piece of deep rolling dub techno. On the other side ‘Immersion II’ paints pristine soundscapes of soft, lapping waves, underpinned by submerged pulsations that rise to the surface to continue its deep space explorations. Two highly refined and inspiring tracks that sit on the apogee of this sound.

Edited 6 years agoBoth tracks are immense, though Immersion 1 just about edges it for me. Pacey, melodic, deep techno bliss that rolls and bubbles in true Deepchord style. Another unmissable release from a label that's cemented itself at the pinnacle of contemporary ambient / electronic music.
