I don’t know what the complaints are all about, I’ve had this on CD and vinyl since it came out and only recently put the vinyl in rotation to find that IMO this was made for playing on vinyl, sounds way better than the CD.

This is a long shot but did anyone happen to get 2 side C/D records? I got 2 slabs of side A/B on my sealed copy I bought recently. Let me know and we could swap!

This sounds like mud. Yes, the music is dark, and gritty to begin with, but listening to this album on vinyl is almost depressing.

This record sounds the way it does because this was Evil Dee's first ever job as an engineer without much prior knowledge. They had to do it themselves because their original engineer just quit the job. He said they specifically tailored this album to be played on cassette, so that seems to be the definitive version.

1993 was a tremendous year for hip-hop! Snoop, Wu, Tribe, KRS etc... all delivered highlights of their careers in 9-3. But even in that fierce competition, Enta Da Stage is a serious contender for album of the year. Drop the needle blindly and you’ll play a killer track. My only complaint: both “Ack Like U Want It” and “Slave” were CD only and omitted from the vinyl (which obviously should have been pressed on 2 LPs). But enough nitpicking, this is a stone cold classic amongst classics.

Can someone please tell me if the sound quality of this press is supposed to be buzzy/static as hell.
I bought an NM copy and the buzzing sound is off the rails.. I've cleaned it with static cleaner, still no change.

Without a shred of doubt, one of the greatest Hip-Hop LP's of all time.
Bought my copy in 93' & have it in front of me. Regarding re-presses, the differences are obvious from the label scans; there are no barcodes nor anything other than the Wreck 'flying bullets' character logo & black text on yellow on the OG labels. Most crucially, around the label edge must read: "Manufactured and Distributed by Max Entertainment......" , NOT "Distributed by Nervous Inc., 1501 Broadway, Suite 1314B, New York, NY 10036". No thick black double headed arrow that runs round the outside of the labels on some nervous/Wreck re-issues.
The hand etchings in the dead wax are as above. Hard to tell from the sleeve due to not knowing what the re-presses look like, although usually the art is scanned & lesser in quality. All official releases including the OG have been pressed in the same way from the same plates- all will need cranking up a notch & are very quiet pressings. Bear in mind if ordering a copy which is marked or seen many careless spins, that marks from needles will be easily heard. Same fate suffered by De La Soul's '3 Feet High & Rising' & early ATCQ/Jungle Brothers albums, and classics on the 'Loud' (ha ha really?) Label (Wu-Tang Clan/Beatnuts e.t.c.)
If this had been mastered for max volume, it would be beyond the perfect album. As it is, its still a stone cold classic & for me, one of 93's true golden nuggets & one of the best Jazz sample excursions in Hip Hop to this day, perhaps only outdone by the genius of ATCQ's 'Low End Theory'. They even sampled Busta / 'Scenario' on 'Powaful Impak!' !! -
