Edited 6 years ago'Techno Off Springs' is an overlooked, laidback Detroit Techno come Deep House inspired groove in an early Carl Craig style straight from the Reinforced Records stable, North West London headquarters massive.
For me, the remix of Neurosis is the one here though. Messed up, deep in the background sampled arpeggio, rather muddy sounding tidbits and Belgian style buzzing mentasmic mayhem over rather typical rough beat and vocal snipit Reinforced production. To be fair, the quite crispy breaks aren't much to write home about. It's the riffs, deep bassline and key stab breakdown which keep it held loosely together and power it on and on. As already mentioned, perhaps typical Reinforced production but not that typical in regards to ideas, during that period when everything was turning more jungle and more ragga by each ing week anyway. Which makes it that bit different.
Mastering isn't great on any of these tracks and agree with reviewer below about the noisy vinyl. Not only have I owned several copies of this release over the years (which makes me assume that it isn't that limited) and most have been noisy, and in my experience, most releases of the series have had certain amounts of inherent noise. Perhaps due to them being pressed on picture/coloured vinyl. That shouldn't excuse sellers from listing their copies for sale on any marketplace as VG+ and above though, inherent bad mastering or not! But that's a different issue altogether. -
