Great packaging, but scattered noise in places does detract from what is a relatively quiet record. Hopefully the new pink Newbury variant will sound better

Edited 3 years agoI took a chance on a used copy of this, expecting the worst. Fortunately for my copy, it's mostly perfect save for some light noise here and there. No skips on side A, no skips on side C. I'm also playing it on a Technics 1200 with an Ortofon Blue cartridge. And I think I like it better than the Blue Bella Union pressing which didn't sound as open as this one.
It's a beautiful package - nice gatefold, the vinyl color fits perfectly, and the prints included are great. Totally worth the $45 or so I spent. -
It took 3 purchases but I finally have a clean copy and it's glorious. The other 2 copies had surface noise. This one is perfect. -
BE VERY careful when buying this record. Some of the original pressings from VMP had very bad static and distortion on some sides and tracks. VMP replaced most when requested but there are many of the bad copies out there and some sellers wont disclose the issue. Recently bought one of the bad copies that was d as a NM. When listened to it and attempted to return seller refused until I wrote negative reviews and challenges the payment through paypal. But same seller posted that record was fine and has since put it back for sell without mentioning the issue. There are honest sellers, as one that has one copy for sell now, that clearly states the distortion and static present on copy. This issue was extensively commented when record came out so you can research about it. But there are others that dont care about it -or are deaf- and just want to scam you.

Edited 3 years agoIs the recipe and extra artwork supposed to come with all the pressings or just some of them? I recently bought a copy and it comes without that extra. Please let me know. -
Really like the way this record looks with the gold splatter, unfortunately my copy has the problem of a very noisy side C, astronaut and half of some things last a long time sound bad :( such a shame as the rest sounds great -

Magnificent in every way. VMP did a bang-up job on the presentation and GZ pressed it nicely. The sheer presence and power of the album is above and beyond like I'd never heard it before. If you're a fan you owe it to yourself to grab one of these! Must have!
