A fantastic pressing of a great album. Anyone complaining about this pressing and the way it sounds should go get their ears checked out. Q-tips also help.
Just because you overpaid tens of thousands of dollars for overrated audio equipment and feel the need to list your set up like that makes your opinion any less relevant doesn’t mean you’re hearing anything different than someone with a system that cost a fraction of the price. Especially with the way albums are pressed these days. -

Edited one year agoYes…there is some surface noise in the quiet parts. The cliche vinyl record crackles. Great sounding record otherwise. Glad to have in my collection.
Really just wanted to plug Arriving Somewhere But Not Here on vinyl. Worth the price of ission. What a journey. Oh…and the last part of Mellotron Scratch put my AVR into protection mode. Gotta crank that. -
There's a little surface noise though the first disc but the music sounds amazing. Surface noise is very apparent in some softer ages and is a tad distracting. Otherwise beautiful packaging and sound dynamic. Plays well cranked up and turned down

My copy has a little surface noise that is noticeable in the softest ages but sounds _fantastic_ otherwise (zero pops, zero clicks) and in no way sounds flat. The two additional tracks are a nice bonus.

Edited 2 years agoI’m fairly sure the copies of this currently on the market are not the 180g press from 2018, and the negative does not apply to that press. I have the 2018 copies of this and In Absentia and they are among the flattest and quietest records I own. Perhaps owners need to check their doesn’t belong on the 2021 repress page?

had to return one that couldn't even start because a third of the edge looked like it was scraped on concrete. i won't blame any employees, perhaps the lighting in the factory is poor?
-
Not sure what all the negative reviews are about. Mine is dead quiet and sounds fantastic. Dynamic and warm... definitely wouldn't describe it as flat. I did Spinclean the record, as I do with all albums shipped in paper sleeves. But even before I did I don't this ever sounding bad.
-
I think there are too many positive reviews, because people like the album itself, but they don't understand anything about the sound quality.
