Björk – Debut

Spectacular album for the undisputed queen of European electronic pop, not to mention international. Those who had appreciated it within the Sugarcubes or in its first two timid solo tests could hardly expect a qualitative leap of this magnitude. The opening of "Human Behavior" immediately clarifies the artist's intention: pop dance with strong electronic inflections and some splash of hip hop. "Crying" and "Venus as a boy" reaffirm the concept, especially the latter for its melodic and sensual trend. "There's more to life then this" is blatantly dance, very convincing. The contrast with the dreamlike atmosphere created by the voice and harp that characterizes "Like someone in love" is therefore very marked. She immediately returns to the dance floor with "Big time sensuality" and "Violently happy" interspersed with the delicacy of "Come to me". to close the vaguely jazzy atmosphere of "The anchor song" perfect and credible. In short, a job that can satisfy different palates, both those of who love refined pop and those who love to warm up on the dance floors to the rhythm of a dance that is never banal or predictable.
