Maybe the sound is good, very good, but the pressing isn't something. A lot of hiss and whoops between the songs...... Wouldn't recommend at all. Not close to the A head full of dreams which is superb !

Agree with most of the posters.. good record pressing. Ive found the Coldplay reissues are all pretty good. Parachutes is excellent. Quiet vinyl with a good soundstage. Okay, its digitally mastered but only the wonky audiophiles care about that stuff.. i just like listening to good music well presented

Edited one year agoVery clean pressing with little to no surface noise. The vocals are recessed in the mix on a number of tracks. Mastering is great - warm, plenty of bass, wide soundstage and clear separation of instruments. Packaging is lacklustre, and pretty much a bare bones edition.

Mylo Xyloto is a space opera concept album, which according to Wikipedia, "tells the story of a war against sound and colour on the planet Silencia, which has been overtaken by a totalitarian government led by Major Minus, who controls the population through media and propaganda." Heady ideas, but for the most part, the album is a solid effort that sees the band reaching out into different genres while still staying close to their own style. The album features the band exploring more into electronica and other ideas, much like US did with Actung and Pop (as if the band did not need any further comparison to their Irish counterparts). The songs are quite enjoyable, and makes for a good listen, if you are willing to be open to new things from the band. Personally, I like that the band tries something different album to album, while still being recognizable as Coldplay. The vinyl is generally well done, but does retain a bit of a sterile, digital sound (likely intentional). The soundscape is wide and clean, and the instrumentation well separated and clear. No issues with the vinyl itself. I would have favored a 2xLP format given the number of songs per side, but the record does not sound as compressed as you may expect to it with 7 songs per side. Pump up the volume a little bit more, and enjoy it!
