Edited one day agoMy copy actually sound excellent. Obviously not an audiophile recording to start with but is actually very dynamic and is not missing any details. An excellent pressing as far as i’m concerned. Dropping the needle on the title track, i was actually pleasently surprised of the sudden full assault..:)

Edited 18 days agoFirst of all, theres been a repress of this.
A copy ive bought from Amazon UK in March 2025 has a "made in Poland" print on the back of the sleeve/shrink. I bought one to try after i realised my older copy had some non fill but i returned the Made In Poland jobby as it would almost certainly be worse than the Record Industry pressing from circa 2017 overall. My older RI press only has two audible moments of non fill so maybe i was too hasty and picky.
With that out the way im sorry further still as the sound is dull and distant and while its not going to hurt any ears this album is meant to sound lively, not dull. The pressing itself is super high quality (minus two rotations of non fill rip) but the sound is not. I also own the limited 2017 red HMV vinyl copy which sounds considerably more forward and more alive and plays in the speaker plane rather than in a room behind with the door almost closed.
To the many people observing the same dull listening trend below and saying to themselves "this recording just sounds like meh anyway", go and buy the 2017 HMV red vinyl and experience the opposite even if its not perfect itself.
If you simply have to get this one and just bare the dullness id try to get the og 2017 with the Back To Black hype sticker and card as that will be Record Industry quality while the newer repress will almost certainly be made badly in Poland (by Takt i assume whove mucked up all the other pressings by them ive tried). -

Spinning now and not bad . But I miss my original pressing (that I bought in cut out bin at two guys back in the day ) !

Better than the dreadful 4 Men With Beards pressing. It still sounds muddy, but at least there are some dynamics.

Sounds good to me, probably not as good as an original, but my pockets don't always run deep and for the money it is perfectly fine.

I was hesitant to buy this pressing after reading the reviews here. But then I got it used for a reasonable price and must say I was pleasantly surprised. Sounds good on my system. Lively, dynamic, and has good bass. Sounds far superior to Ghost BC. I doubt the album was ever recorded better, it's not Pink Floyd or Ulver.

Edited 3 years agoBought this album after first listening to it on Spotify, honestly prefer listening to it on Spotify, which is incredibly rare for me once I buy an album on vinyl. It sounds muddy (as others have said), lacks dynamic range, I'd either try find an original pressing or wait for a better pressing.
-edit- I've since replaced this with an 80s pressing, and can confirm that this is indeed just a terrible pressing. -
