Side A mix sounds like absolute garbage. Side B sounds much better. Obviously the first two tracks on sB are live, but even Opiate and TGLE sound better than all of sA.

I was so worried about buying this because it’s gets HORRIBLE reviews everywhere, but then I found it for $7 so I snagged it. It’s not awful, definitely listenable but could be so much better with a better mix. Bass is super light and the albums a little quiet overall, but other than that I really enjoy it.

So the first 3 songs sounded awful. The bass was mixed so low there was no punch, the cymbals sound like weird high pitched dish plates, distracting and terrible mastering for vinyl. Weird that people like the sound of this. I think the original recording sounds this bad bc Side B with the 3 live tracks sounded pretty awesome actually...

Edited 2 years agoMy copy sounds marvellous, far better than any other medium! I can hear details, especially sound-stage related, which were previously undetectable! I´m honestly amazed, as it seems the majority isn´t as pleased with this version as I am.
The vinyl came warped, so I am not rating it 4 stars (which is my usual vinyl rating, 5 for exceptional releases) but subtract one for a total of 3 stars, as QC seems to be unacceptable for this pressing and I want to reflect that in the rating as well.
TLDR: BUY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK! IF I SPEND 20€ YOU CAN SPEND LESS!
Cheers, Lucca! -
this pressing is really good. nice and dynamic, has nice bass. overall really nice. My only gripe is that it doesnt have a conventional sleeve with a spine, but thats most likely because this is an ep. considering the msrp is $8, definitely pick this up

Edited 4 years agoFound it at Barnes & Noble for $7.99
Great sound quality. Seems distinguished from other releases of this album under Volcano for the two reasons listed in summary: Parental Warning is printed on the cover, not a sticker; No double groove, The Gaping Lotus Experience plays after a period of silence post Opiate, mirroring how the 'secret track' was distributed on CDs. -
Having owned this and the 180g first pressing of Aenima, this is the best $7.99 i've ever spent. This legitimately sounded better than the Aenima record. This is a gem.
