Absolutely flawless. Perfectly and expressive. Absolutely gorgeous. Simple and elegant.

At some points "Narkopop" lacks some of the fluidity in production, as compared to the prevoius 4 installments of the series. The blend loses its homogeneity here and there, but even with that "flaw" taken into , "Narkopop" deserves full 5 stars.
That actually says a lot about the perfection of "Nah und Fern" box set, so make sure you check that one out, if you haven't already.

A legend in the industry Wolfgang Voigt aka Mike Ink aka Gas aka ... finally returns to the LSD drenched forests of his nineties ambient/dub/techno excursions. The scale of the music seems even greater this time around with the forest as deep as ever and the expert workmanship reaches modern classical feel at times. Makes this listener dream of the possibility of Gas ing forces with a symphonic orchestra for a rework album. Might be one for Deutsche Grammophon.

This is not my favorite GAS Album, i found little diversity here, the same melodies are repeated in some tracks , lacks some inspiration, this feels like more one of the Rückverzauberung series where most of the tracks seem to be on the same mood, still its a satisfying production ,good for Autumn and Winter , rainy days, forests and night atmospheres, this release can also be a good soundtrack for movies , video games or books. "Zauberberg" for me is by far GAS best Album.

Narkopop is a further development of the previous works by Wolfgang Voigt. You can see that the creativity, after the long gas break of 17 years, bubbles out of it. The magic that is part of the gas project has expanded and leaves the listener astonished and going on further journeys. For me, Narkopop is a good investment because it is what it is and will always remain.

Wolfgang Voigt returned as GAS after a long absence with the definitive album of the year. All the elements that made us love GAS are here, sublime orchestral tunes are harmoniously blended with evocative pulsating beats, but years have matured the overall textures, more refined and suggestive than ever. Press play, close your eyes, you are in the heart of the forest amidst heavy rain, am i right? Another milestone album from GAS, destined to stand the test of time.
