This is a really good album from Smokey & The Miracles, and one of the most consistently strong of the early Motown albums I've heard. All of the hits are on side one, but side two also boasts a clutch of memorably melodic material. This stereo pressing has plenty of low end, crisp, clear vocals and instrumentation, and a lively, punchy and wide soundstage. My copy plays with light surface noise between songs, and there's a small feeler on side two that causes a couple of skips on "Let Me Have Some", but it plays considerably better than it looks.

After owning my copy for a few months, I just spun it again. I have no complaints about surface noise or bad mastering, sounds Motown perfect to me.

Definitely crackles and pops. Thankfully there aren't many quiet moments on the album and you barely notice when the music is playing. And yes, I did give it a rinse with the spin clean to make sure

Can anyone comment if they have this UK Mono pressing , if the title track suffers from poor fidelity ? I've only heard one UK Mono pressing (the one I have) , but Going To A Go Go sounds shit , compared to the rest of the record. It's like the treble has been turned way down. The sound is dry and flat. It's irritating to listen to. Was there a mastering problem in initial pressings , which I assume I have a copy of ? A couple of other tracks sound less 'toppy' , too , but not as bad as the title track. Some of the other original Tamla Motown UK LP pressings by other artists also feature at least one rogue fidelity track(s).

Just not a great pressing. Great record, though. Distortion throughout.

This entire pressing sound muffled and a bit tin-can like. Very disappointed in this poor mix.

If you're going to re-issue Motown, why wouldn't you re-issue the mono version?

                    Album Revolution # 1:

Ok, Ok Ok, I was a Bad Boy!!!

I reviewed "The Miracles" with "Billy Griffin" before I did it with the one and only "Smokey Robinson"....

I am sure that in most Peoples eyes I should have been thrown in jail for that, but please forgive me, I just had to get that stuff off my chest...Now that I have come to my senses, I will only do the ones I have on Vinyl, and I have plenty!!!!!

First of all, when I was Younger, I NEVER, EVER, EVER, considered "Smokey Robinson & The Miracles" album artists....Then once again, I came to my senses and got a reality check...

Along with "Robert (Bobby) Rogers", "Ronald (Ronnie) White", and "Warren (Pete) Moore" (and even though she wasn't officially with the group anymore, "Smokey's" wife, "Claudette Robinson") , "Going To A Go-Go" was a statement of an album for the group (even though they had several before this one)....

Just like with most "Motown" albums (in this case under the "Tamla" imprint), the "Title Track" should have started the album....But as always it's not a crime here also, because the MONSTER HIT, "The Tracks Of My Tears", got the job....

"Ooo Baby Baby" was an "Hummungest Gugungest " HIT with a FANTASTIC Melody, and the Vocals were RIGHT ON POINT with "Smokey's" incredible Lyrics....

Other notables on here are: "Choosey Beggar", "My Girl Has Gone", "In Case You Need Love", the funny "My Baby Changes Like The Weather", and the FANTASTIC, "A Fork In The Road"....

The real reason why I had to start recognizing the group's albums is because of "Smokey" himself...I know he wrote the songs, because he wrote songs for EVERYBODY under the sun (even though at times he had help from other of the group, ESPECIALLY "Pete Moore")...I just didn't realize the power and weight of those songs...And that also goes to the fact that he also got to Produce the albums as well (the only person to have that much power at "Motown" was a young "Stevie Wonder")....

This is the first time that I give the 1st album I review by an artist or group, and start an Album Revolution for them...So, now I can't wait to dig into their catalog!!!!

From Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, here is a nice collection of arrangements, including the title track, "Tracks Of My Tears", and "Ooh Baby Baby". What's not to like?

This is a '65 STEREO pressing.
                        Sound is very good. Recommended.
