Edited one day agoUnipak gatefold sleeve for the earliest US press, yellow Epic label...HATE the Unipak sleeves LOL... Doors Waiting for the Sun and Last Time Around by the Buffalo Springfield also packaged like this, among others...Blue Cheer Outsideinside had an extra flap that folded out, Exile on Main Street had both records and the cardboard inners and postcards all done up in a Unipak style. The thinner cardboard gatefold format often leads to seam splits and separations... makes it harder to get the record out of the sleeve too.

Stumbled upon a nearly pristine copy of this on holiday in Italy. Sounds absolutely fantastic. Really punchy bass, great separation and lovely sharpness to the drums. -

How could this be any better... sound is absolutely incredible. -

What a great album!! I wonder if it is worth getting the remastered version. -

Personally I've never heard this album sound better. Wax, digital or otherwise. In my opinion it's very difficult to master Sly's sound, to capture the full range of the band and not loosing the hazy feel. Originals weren't given their just due with great cuts and most modern day reissues sound to clean and bright.
Punchy and vibrant sound. Horns are in full form and Graham bass is exceptional. Yes, the singles sound great, but this version really shines in the griminess of Don't Call Me and the funk out Sex Machine. Drums stick out to me here more than ever. Ryan just has a great handle on this one. I'm very quick to critic GZ pressings for their inconsistencies and higher noise floor. This one has none of those qualities and remains very quiet without intrusion. -
Funkadelic with major hits and a joyous riot. Songs that are not excessively long and don’t overload on lyrics.

This album has never sounded better. I've always kind of tolerated the original Epic pressings, but...this has so much more depth.

This is an excellent repress. Sonically much better than I expected…great soundstage not too bright to my ears however the vocals are forward which is kinda refreshing in a recording like this where so much is going on.
