I think this is one of the worts reissues ever. 180 gr. x 2 pieces of crap. I don't know which master they used but this was one of the worst available. The sound is veiled, digitized, distorted, smeared. The monumental John Mayall's concert ruined by unknown guys from Russia. One star is even too much

Truly a fantastic sounding blues record with terrific natural reverb and separation between instruments. Highly recommend. -

In the liner notes on the back cover John Mayall promotes this record is as "...a new direction in blues music." First, I believed that slogan when I bought the lp in the 70ties. Now, in 2023 I think that John left with this release the field of blues in favor of a blend of folk, folk jazz, folk rock, and jazz rock. It's definitely not blues-rock. If you are in doubt you need only listen to "Don't Pick A Flower". That is a pure romantic ballad. In the end you come to the conclusion that the title of the lp "White Blues King" is a completely misleading marketing tactic targeted towards white club in . A better title should have been "John Mayall and Johnny Almond, the Folk-Jazz Kings". That would have given more credit to John Almond's jazz-oriented playing. -
This album is like MTV Unplugged 1969.
All top notch musicians,
however Johnny Almond stands out as exceptional.
He brings haunting tones with the sax and flute,
uncommon priests at the alter of the blues. -
Fantastic pressing. Really incredible live recording for its era. Add this one to many of Ludwig's accomplishments.

My copy is worn out because it’s been played so many times. A very good recording of a great show. -
Sounds better than any of the vinyl copies I have gotten. This remains the definitive version for me.
