Another strike of genius Tricky. A-side the pop side with wonderful cool Topley. B-side dark and experimental. -

This album is pretty solid, it sounds like if Spawn made some crazy hip hop demos -

Jezuz wept this is so poor!...
So let's get this right...
Tricky has the all time chance of a life time to have something dope produced by the almighty R-R-R-ZAAA...
And what happens?
Good question!
What exactly did happen?
Well from the end results..
Nothing what so ever!
Tricky uses a classic sample from fellow Bristolian's Portishead..
Meaning he could not be bothered to hook up a decent sample on his own!
Then he mumbles a right load of waffle!
Maxinquaye sings a few little nothings.
And even Rza etc sound limp.
Think of how many people would have been waiting in the queue to work with Rza???
Many many many many!
Such a waste of precious studio time......
Shame...Big shame! ;(

This CD single came in a Digipak, with either a standard black disc tray or, more rarer, a red one. -

Hell Is Round The Corner uses the same Isaac Hayes sample as fellow Bristolians Portishead used on Glory Box, whilst the b-side features Wu-Tang super-producer RZA at the height of his talent with his Gravediggaz side project. Quite a coup for Tricky as most people in hip-hop circles in the UK had written off trip-hop as a 'bastard child of hip-hop' and the sound hadn't had much impact in the US. The two b-side cuts, not available anywhere else, are the perfect blend between Tricky's trip-hop sound and the Gravediggaz horror-core style.
