Alphaville – Forever Young

Does this A3-B3 variant even exist or is it a typo?

Very bad, without dynamics, obviously digital record converted to vinyl. Compression, compression and only compression as with most remasters. Look only for the original press.

Superb sound quality, no crackling, simply amazing, there really is nothing more to say.

Just compared this with a 1984 US press. It wasn't even close, the 1984 wins hands down. You can tell the orange one was from a digital source, it sounds "washed out". I mean this isn't what I would call bad, but you should just look for an older pressing IMO.

This was a blind buy at a thrift store and I really like this album and it is sought after as well and I the song Forever Young as soon as I heard the song,it is a really good album and I tell everyone in the Vinyl community to not give up on thrift stores because sometimes you will get lucky when you go thrifting

To With Love Is one of my personal Favorite tracks.

Alphaville were always cool in my book, but are surprisingly hip again thanks to their magnificent song “Forever Young” being included in that kooky cult film, Napoleon Dynamite.

This is one of the great Euro new wave LP’s, full of chilly synth grooves and distantly longing vocals snapped out over a mechanized electro dance beat.
Besides the sad beauty of the afore mentioned title track, the other big hit was the epic “Big In Japan”; a perfect synth-pop song in every way with its sequenced pulse, haunting synths and Teutonic string flourishes.

Elsewhere, “To With Love” throws in some Japan/Duran style funk bass, “Summer In Berlin” has a sumptuous melodic chorus, “Fallen Angel” is campy high drama and “Sounds Like A Melody” kicks into gear with a euphoric rush to become one of the best pop songs you’ve never heard!

Not great - and I'm a sucker for a good Atmos/5.1 mix - this blu-ray is pretty damn lifeless lacking compared to an original UK vinyl. Sounds compressed to my ears. Yet another reason I need to remind myself to read reviews before I jump and purchase something I likely won't play ever again.

This is indeed a disappointment, the Dolby Atmos mix is dynamic (DR14) with lots of energy, but it's mainly a widening of the front soundstage, we would have preferred a livelier mix. A disappointing release. Atmos mix is marginal. Stereo mix is overly compressed, and only published at 24-48. No bonus materials. If you have access to streaming services, the Atmos mix is the same one published there.
