Level 42 – Standing In The Light

The pressing I have good but man is it a pain in the ass to get the album out of the paper sleeve that first time. Obviously I replaced it with a proper inner rice sleeve, but when you try to get the vinyl out that first time it’s like the album is too large for the paper sleeve. Good luck!

These old Polydor issues are great. In fact all the 80s Level 42 albums on Polydor are superb. The subsequent remasters do not sound as good. Chase these and you’ll be happy! There are 8 studio albums and one live album but this is edited to a single disc!

My variant has the same hand-etched runout on each side, but side A has a "6" before the "diamond symbol 420" and then has "T 1 1 2" instead of "T 11 3" or "T 11 4". Side B has the "6" also and ends with "T 1 1 1".

To my knowledge, the only album of their's to be recorded in the USA. The Reason? It was produced by EW&F's Verdine White & Larry Dunn.

To my ears, their influence as producers here seems non-existent, as this album sounds no different on any level, to their previous (or forthcoming) albums.

Not their best, but songs like "Standing in the Light", "Out of sight out of mind", & the title track are worth the price of ission.
