Santana – Inner Secrets

All I can say is, WOW! I own a couple of OGs and the Friday Music 2014 repress and this is by far the best sounding of them all. The clarity is excellent with a wide soundstage and beautiful definition of the highs, mids, and lows. There is no sibilance on this pressing on my turntable. The highs are clear and very detailed. The lows and bass are deep and not muddy with a nice 'thump' in your chest. The telling sign is in the midrange. Vocals are very clean and detailed and do not blend with the rest of the music. The final le sommet du sommet is the pressing is dead quiet. I bought it from Amazon for $23! What a deal. Highly recommended.

Sehr saubere ( sterile ) Aufnahme. Sehr detailreich und tolle Räumlichkeit. Musik ist im Prinzip gut aber etwas eintönig daher 1 Stern Abzug.

I think this pressing is excellent. It can be shrill at times but a smidge of EQ easily remedies. But as “upsbucky” said in a previous review that’s the way the OG sounded. I always liked Greg Walkers’ vocals and wished he had worked with Carlos a bit longer. Sleeve & Gatefold Jacket are top of the line quality. Sound wise ….this is well worth the $$.

I think I prefer this version to the mobile Fidelity I just purchased.

Probably not many will agree but this has always been my favorite Santana album. Reason being this was a record I grew up on during my formative teen years. To see it released as an audiophile recording thrilled me. So how does it sound? Well this album has always been a percussion wonder and on that front it es in spades. The vocals at times can be a bit sharp but tolerable and it's that way with an OG too. Don't let that deter you from buying this late 70's classic. Sounds better to me on headphones vs speakers.

BUYER BEWARE: My copy of this release has started to 'pinhole'.
My advice is to rip your copy of this release asap, before pinholes
increase & become problematic during playback of the CD.

This sounds really good to me. I have an original from 1978 and this is all that and more. Red vinyl is flat and spins true. The high end is a bit bright but easily controlled. This is a very wide open and detailed reissue. The groove floor is quiet. I’m pleased with this pressing.

My pressing does not match any of the US pressings here. There is an odd flag like logo in the deadwax that looks kind of like a British Flag 😊 A box divided by a plus sign, and overlayed with an 'X' Anyone know what the hell pressing this is? Thanks!

Non vorrei creare problemi al signor Santana, che stimo molto e che piaceva pure a papà.
Ma il pezzo "Holiday", qui accreditato al sig. Santana come se fosse una sua composizione, è in realtà il riff di chitarra di un pezzo che ebbe un discreto successo in alcuni paesi latino-americani che si chiamava "Samba Samba".
Chi fu il primo a registrare "Samba Samba" mi piacerebbe saperlo.
Il duo colombiano trapiantato in Spagna "Elkin & Nelson" già registrò il pezzo quattro anni prima di Santana, ma io ho sentito anche altre due versioni che sono sicuramente precedenti a "Elkin & Nelson": quella dei Cossa Nostra, uscita a Panama sull'etichetta locale "Taboga", e quella di "Jaque Mate", uscita invece per la Peerless in Costa Rica.
Insomma, Santana si è accreditato un pezzo che era già stato registrato e coverizzato da almeno altre tre band! Ma tanto negli USA nessuno sapeva niente! Zitt' a chi sap o juoco!

Santana adopts a more straight ahead pop-rock direction w/ a Traffic/Doobie Brothers vibe & less of the Latin kick & long instrumental/percussive ages. Still has those tight arrangements, soulful singing & Carlos's soaring solos.
Santana go west coast/blue-eyed soul
