Dark Matter is a (great) mix between a vinyl and a TB-303. I recognize the drum line also used in Trancid Overdose by Dj Franky Jones.. which have been released one year later! So, does someone know what is the name of that original vinyl used with that machine-like drums ?

Absolute savage piece of plastic, in fact the whole of The Subjects vs Jeff Mills vinyl is pure techno madness, all 3 were hammered by Mark EG on its release [most notably @ Helter Skelter Progression NYE 1997] as noted beneath if you dont like your techno with that cutting edge then give this a swerve if you do welcome along for the ride ;)

Dark Matter is in my top ten techno tracks; it's heavy, hard and groovy (yes) and must be played loud. It's over 20 years old now but I never tire of hearing it. It is Mills finest work imo.

I give myself a hearty well done for the condition of the vinyl given I must have played it thousands of time. #goodpressing

If you like Dave Clarke, you will love this, otherwise it will just give you a big headache.

I when we first heard the test pressing of this at Great Asset ,the buzz it created was massive.

The original test pressing had another track on it by The Subjects which was called First Flower ,this was a break beaty trancier affair ,with a dodgy vocal over it,naturally it was dropped off of the promos and final release.

This left us with the pile driving ,squeltching acid mayhem of side A .Hearing this on a large system would seriously hurt your ears ! On the other side is a darker and more sinister track, but for me it is all about side A.

Absolutely smashing stuff from the Limelight-era Mills. For whichever reason (surely, it involves copyrights and money; this reads "Licensed from Frank De Wulf Productions", the Two Thumbs re-re-release, which was already licensed from ULR One, itself licensed from Undertow), this is the one pressing that is solely credited to The Subjects. The original tracks are the exact same anyway: hard Acid techno of a high caliber.
Spinning Atoms' remix leaves the Acid out and loads the kickdrum with growth hormones to produce the heavy, hard-hitting techno that was popular in the late '90s. The Headcleaner version surfs on the clubbier sound that emerged then and sounds even more dire now than then. It has very little to do with the original and, unlike its ancestor, did not age very well.

"Dark Matter", Superb minimal industrial techno originally released circa 1992/93. Quite militant but very funky with those wicked 303s. Sharp drum programming and rough mixing, what a tune! Still gives me goose bumps when I hear the opening filtered/muffled vocal sample intro...proper dark, hard dancefloor business...
