King Crimson – Discipline

This copy has the OG Discipline Knot embossed on the album cover. Copyrights were violated and a different knot was then used on all subsequent pressings. Happy to have one of the originals

is it me or the vocals on this pressing sound really distorted?

Probably the worst sounding version of this great album. This remaster sounds incredibly dull, boring and muffled. Stay away. Get an earlier pressing on vinyl instead. The difference is quite dramatic.

This release (at least Variant 7, which I just played to ) contains the earlier version/mix of "Matte Kudasai" with Robert Fripp soloing instead of Belew.

sort of mediocre pressing. a little thin, a little brittle, but cool if you want an original pressing. not unlistenable, just fine, i wouldn't pay more than twenty usd for it (which is what i paid). if you're looking for sound quality get the 200g reissue.

A wonderful Steven Wilson Remaster to one of my desert island albums. Sounds amazing, with amazing clarity & separation.
I got this album (OG pressing) and my brain was not ready, I was 17 when this came out. I was adventurous enough for the times. But nothing prepared me for this Masterpiece, 🇨🇦😎

does this pressing have the 1989 or original 1981 mix of matte kudasai? it doesnt say anything about it in the notes

It’s not amazing, but it sounds fine. For 30 bucks it’s not that bad.

Not really understanding the hate here. The mastering could be better, sure, but there's plenty of life here. It sounds solid. The alt mix at the end is interesting but unlisted and unnecessary.
