Culture Club – Colour By Numbers

Just scored one with theBoy George poster still in side & OBI strip!!!

Album number two is a far more focused offering that showcases some pure pop brilliance. From the opening throwback and super smash, and probably the bands best know song "Karma Chameleon" to the sombre and mature "Victims" this is Cultur Club's finest hour and album number 3 was a step down and the start of the end of a band that broke the States almost as fas as Concorde used to cross the Atlantic from London to New York. This is a soulful and the bands blackest sounding album with Motown influences all over. Other highlight's include "Church Of The Poison Mind", "Changing Every Day", "Miss Me Blind" and "Black Money". Steve Levine was the hottest producer in town by now and the winning formula seemed unstoppable but unfortunately did grind to a halt by mid 1985.

Not poly-lined black inner sleeve. Last track on Side A has noticeable sibilance and more noise, otherwise would have been a stellar release.

I agree with jaffboy151 that this sounds great. However, the Side B on my copy is really off-centre.

Outstanding press and mastering. The bass is unbelievable on this album, truly thumps. The album is crystal clear on this NM copy. For early 80's vinyl, this is the one to get!

Favourite song: Black Money

I buying this when I first had some cash back in 1985 at a local record shop. My copy is so close to mint it's beautiful. One of the most incredible pressings. So clear and vibrant. So much volume and space. Musically, this is just classic 80s stuff for us now old gen-x folk.

Pretty damn good. One of the top albums of the 80s, repackaged and remastered - with the notable exception of ‘Time’, which would have been better-paired with this album. Mastering is quite close to the original, though it misses the mark when it comes to soundstage & bottom-end - the original Japan vinyl edition is way superior.

Just spun this particular pressing and it sounds like a million bucks on my mid-level system. Super clear, loud and full.

Did anyone notice that the beginning of "Romance Revisited" starts at the end of "Colour By Numbers"? Also the last second of "Miss Me Blind" shows up at the beginning of "Mister Man" Is this a tracking error?
