Beck – Mellow Gold

Horrible pressing. Unbelievable amount of static. Snaps and pops galore.

I bought my copy in 2001 and it's very nice but is it a bootleg? I bought Loser 12" in trans red the same day at a record fair.
It's nice to see it almost €100 now! :)

On my copy, Loser is much lower in volume than the rest of the songs. Anyone know why?

Still no sign of a anniversary deluxe edition of Mellow Gold…kind of sad

For a bootleg, it’s not bad. There is some noise between tracks. When tracks start they are actually mixed pretty well. Low end I’d definitely there and it’s dynamic. These usually come up for $35-$40. It does the job until we get an eventual repress.

I’ve been a big fan of this record since it came out. I have the “Motherload” reissue and the 2016 Bong Load repress, but finally broke down and bought an OG copy (this).
1. This is the best pressing I’ve heard. dynamic, great instrument separation, and the bass thumps.
2. My copy appears black until held up to light where it is a slightly transparent reddish, amber color. Very similar to some Quiex vinyl I have and very similar to the first press Loser 12” on Bongload pressed by Kdisc. I am wondering if all copies of the first press are like this or if anyone out there has a copy that is not slightly transparent. Another entry exists claiming this transparent version is super rare, and I am hoping to determine if that is true.

Can anybody explain to me, where these ridiculous vinyl prices for this record are coming from? The internet is full of copies over 100 bucks that obviously nobody is buying. Why are the prices still so high? I don't get it

Can anyone confirm that there is a locked groove at the end of Sweet Sunshine on the A Side… or is my copy flawed?

This pressing rocks very happy just got today at local record store the bass is clean and punchy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for adding this. Pressing sounds good - great for an unofficial. Awaiting a true repress!
