referencing Trigger (LP) DISCHORD 29
Have to disagree with the other review, this is an underrated classic no less than Hot Bodi-Gram. The music has all the 80s/90s Dischord hallmarks, particularly the roaring overspilling sound of the guitars. But it is more deconstructed to fundaments and roams more, whereas say Fugazi has moments of deconstruction within anthemic structures. And there are many highlights throughout. -

Very listenable second album by Soul Side, with lots of crunch and raw post-punk energy. These guys underwent an incredible artistic evolution between "Trigger" and "Hot Bodi-Gram" (their third and final album, and indisputably their masterpiece), so it's unfair to compare this record to what the band became--but you'll love it if you're a fan of Dischord's mid-to-late-'80s output. Contains one authentically great moment ('Name in Mind'), but there are some awkwardly-expressed sentiments and the last few songs kinda blur together.
Three and a half stars.
