Wow can't believe this has been just sitting in my collection kinda pushed off into the recesses. While crate digging in my own collection I came across this again and played the entire collection. Right off the bat my interest was peaked as I know these artists very well and found I was listening to new old sounds. Everything I listened to was fresh to the ears except frankie bones track which is a different version of that track than he used on his computer-controlled cd but still the same track. The rest are one offs that I could not find anywhere else on vinyl. Almost every track is great and if you dig old acid there is some fucking gold here!

Odd addition and best of the bunch here for me (surrounded by heavier tracks) is the little gem by Single Cell Orchestra "Threefold", sitting at 93bpm and exclusive to the compilation.

Look out for this one ... just took the vinyl out of the sleeve for the first time in years & the two outermost records (n the side facing the plastic jacket) have both got tell tale markings where something in the plastic marks the surface of the vinyl. I hope it's just cosmetic, I've not checked yet. Sometimes it just washes out the surface visually, other times it destroys it with surface noise. Same goes for DJAX 12"s as well. Not all of them, but definitely worth a check

Nice complation. A few classic chicago tracks, a Wamdue Kids track that is nice, as well as a great Freddy Fresh release. A surprisingly mellow Lenny Dee is paired up with the genius Outlander providing a superb ambient choon. It also contains what is in my opinion the best Ghetto Technics release with Frankie B's Crystal Clear and a few great ambient drum & bass belters. Hard to get a pack with all 6 records tho.

the serotonin track is a nice lill acid jam. i guess all tracks on this one are only released on the compilation. The Armando - Darkside - is also worth mentioning.

at the time of it's release this was a real good introduction to some of Chicago's best producers . very good booklet and interviews with all the important producers like Cajmere , Paul Johnson , Boo Williams and of course Felix Da Housecat . a lot of the tunes on CD 2 are still among my favourite Chicago house trax esp. "TA" by Paul Johnson which is a killer and a record i never saw later . Darkside's "The Swarm" with this strange sound of killerbees on attack , "I Have Just Begun" by Roy Davis and of course the epic 10 minutes plus "Help Me" by Green Velvet are enuff to buy this Compilation . on CD 1 are a few good Detroit Tunes , but Chicago is presented much stronger on this one . Look out in second hand shops , sometimes you can find these Compilations for a goodkoop price..
