Jethro Tull – This Was

Excellent-sounding stereo mastering by Piero Mannucci. Rich bottom end. A nice low-budget alternative to the expensive mono original.

Mine is a 180 gr vinyl of this one, maybe it is not so important, but why there are some difference?

They guy I bought it off said he was in the army and stationed in when he first heard it which may imply that it is a European export edition. He said they were cheap to buy there.

All my german jt pressings come very aenemic with the low frequencies this one https://discogs.cinepelis.org/release/11494772-Jethro-Tull-This-Was is a good example as my former aqualung pressing. The Steve Wilson Mix makes jt sound like a real rock band. The mix of my sunday feeling Shows definitivly less pingpong stereo with Bass and drums in the middle. To my ears it sounds more harmonic and in comparison on My sunday feeling Voice and Guitar are coming as in my german pressing and on this one from the left Channel.

Am I mistaken, or is this "mono" mix of the LP is a real piece of work? And not in a good way.

Very low level, drastic increase when changes to BBC material. Mono mix on Song For Jeffery is pure messed up, unlistenable. Have not listened to stereo mix of album yet but got my fingers crossed. I realize this album never was what one would call audiophile level, but I it sounding a lot bolder than this mono mix anyhow.

Is this anyone else's shared opinion or am I all alone out here? I am not the world's biggest fan of mono mixes but this one seems exceptionally poor.

On the other hand I am a big follower of the BBC broadcasts of groups and artists of the time so that is a big plus and the reason I bought the set. Wish there was more.

Great album, beautifully recorded & performed, with dead-silent vinyl. Perhaps my favorite Tull, sort of prog-rock, sort of bluesy, sort of jazzy. A real peek into the future of what they would eventually excel at...

Few copies haven’t flipback inside gatefold cover 🧐 anyone have the same ?

I've got another i variant, consistent with this pressing info, except that it is stereo and address on back cover is "basing street london w11", matrix ILPS+9085+A2 and ILPS+9085+B2 machine-printed. Is it a 1969 export pressing?
