Notes
New Order's fourth album, released in September 1986.
Recorded at Windmill Lane Studios and mixed at Liverpool's Amazon Studios.
Another Bernard Sumner: "We'd always had that balance of electronics and band stuff. I was always pushing for electronics, and Hooky was always pushing for the band stuff, which was fair enough, I think we needed the band stuff. And by luck it got tipped the band way on Brotherhood. It was a very dense album, because we'd gone a bit mad on overdubs, so it was very layered, and very dense."
Peaked at #9 in the UK album charts.
First US LP and CS release: October 1985.
First US CD release: April 1988.
In 2008 the album was re-released as 2x CD Collector's Edition set, with the bonus disc containing non-album singles, 12" mixes and b-sides.
Factory Australia's initial cd release was based on imported UK copies with "Factory Records Australia Import" stickers on front jewel case (as on image).

Here's a secret...the Australia first pressings are some of the best sounding in my collection! I recently picked up this one and was blown away by the clarity and depth of the recording. Some of the best instrument separation I've heard and Barney's vocals are exceptionally clear. Get on this (them) before the word gets out...! -
Is there way to distinguish the metallic sleeve from the regular sleeve from a photograph?

The release of one vinyl record containing the standard album and apparently running out of vinyl for the rest of the material and just stuffing all of that onto CD or DVD shows a total lack of understanding of what vinyl aficionardos want. The 90's disease where the answer to everything was the CD strikes back. Why not release a full set of vinyl like U2 did with their Joshua Tree anniversary release.

Large soundstage and lovely dynamics. Listening on headphones and I lost myself more than once on the lush instrumental sections of All Day Long.
I was surprised to see the release year. I always assumed this was from two years earlier due to the album name. Oh well. -
To these ears the vinyl is the best sounding version of Brotherhood I have -
no 'sash' with this one?
not one with mine, which it seems came from Italy! -

Besides the skip on my copy, quality-wise it’s decent. Have heard better records but I’ve also heard way worse ones. Barely any noise or pops, but there's a lot of sibiliance on the vocals on Every Little Counts towards the end. -
