I don’t have this pressing, but i thought this comment may be useful for those complaining it is muddy. I have an original German pressing and it sounds muddy and flat (lacking dynamics and punch). I think this one needs a proper remix to sound decent.

Muddy transfer, low volume, no sound dynamics, some light clicks ... and if that wasn't enough, with a pressing fault in the third track of the A-side that ruins the LP. Avoid this reissue like the plague.

I have tried three copies of this, and have had to return all due to defects in the pressings. They all had a fault towards the end of side 1, looked clean to the naked eye but sounded like someone had taken a wire brush to them. It lasted for less than a minute, and no it was not David Jackson playing two horns simultaneously... A real pity because other than that the sound and mix was good. I have reluctantly given up with owning a copy now.
The first copy I tried of H to He also suffered from the same issue, so must be a problem with the pressing machine.
VDGG seem to have been badly served by these reissues. The best pressing I have is Pawn Hearts, but then there is a (known) problem with the channelling of the first track of that one.
Fingers crossed that Cherry Red can do a good job with Still Life next month.

i’m not entirely understanding the hate against this pressing. while i may not have the funds for an original charisma pressing for a side-by-side comparison, i’m simply not hearing a lot of the criticism geared towards this. yes, the sound quality is a bit muddy and hard to pick apart, but that seems to be a theme across all variants of this LP. if you aren’t willing to spend a fortune on an original UK charisma, this will more than satisfy.

All four of the VDGG vinyl reissues ive now tried are terrible. Muddy transfer on poor vinyl... two copies of this tried with both off centre causing flutter and both noisy to boot. The CD counterpart is not only cheaper but has two mixes and sounds far better.

Hi, I think the CD (disk) image is wrong (H to He... is written and this is not correct).
