Edited one year agoI didn't care for this back at the time, but listening back now I understand I should have spent more time with it, it is really rather good.
An issue is that the peak track is the first one "Alpha Wave (Plastikman Acid House Mix)" and a mix should build to that.
And the best track "Sunburst (Atahualpa Mix)" is stuck at the end.
ment from October 1996 states that it also would be released on mix cassette. But as no cassette is listed on Discogs, maybe it was never released ? -
Edited 19 years agoI was very excited when this album was released as it contains Alpha Wave in its Plastikmans Acid House Remix form. One of the best tunes of all time. I was so disappointed when i found it had been edited down from 19 mins to 11 mins, which for me removes the essence of the tune, the monstrous breakdown and crescendo. The other tracks on the album are pretty average and I wouldn't have bought them otherwise, paint by numbers remixing.

Edited 8 years agoThis package contains the best moments that System 7 gave to mankind - maybe apart from the live experience.
Without delving too deep, as I could go on and on about any of these tracks - it's diverse due to the different remixers - but sums up as a solid masterpiece. It includes excellent drum n bass material, intense trance-a-la System 7, full-on-plastikman, chill n bass - and if you consider the co-writers of this material and not just the remixers, you get Derrick May, Alex Paterson, Laurent Garnier, Tony Thorpe, Youth...
It's definitely a treasure to me.
ps. True, when I bought it I didn't know that the Plastikman remix had been edited down from the original 19 mins, and, honestly, there was no need to do that on this vinyl edtn as it is the sole track on A. Tracks like "7:7 Expansion (Elastic Mix)" and "Coltrane (Red Moon Mix)" are not found elsewhere and they are worth this whole 3x12" package alone.
