Bee Gees – Spirits Having Flown

Sounds like an early production CD. Sound is rather flat. Treble is fine, but could do with more bass.

Setup: Techics SP10 MK2, Rega 880 Tonearm/Audio technica AT-VMN50SH, Sony TA-FB940R, Bowers & wilkins 606 S3.

I’m astounded this pressing has yet to be reviewed. The good news is, it is by FAR the best pressing of this album. Super-smooth mastering, plenty of bottom-end, clear mids / highs, and a dead-quiet pressing. I’ve owned US / Japan plus recent remasters, and they are dull in comparison to this release.

My copy has side 1 runout of RSBG001 A // 6 ∇ E420 1 2 8 (or possibly 3).
Side 2 run out stamped part is SBG 001 B // 5 ∇ E S T 1 3.

A very dull affair. Mastering is either non-existent, or it is simply a flat transfer. Zero sparkle. Artwork looks cheap / low resolution and has a matte finish. Don’t waste your money.

One of the best pop/soul albums in history. Songwriting, production and grooves that still hold fine today. Very rare to find an album where you don t need to skip any track.

My label doesn’t quite match the same layout as the 3 other Canadian versions here on Discogs :/

Hey, does anybody know where they pressed this specific version?

Looked at this album recently and burst out laughing. What's with those hideous inner-sleeve photos of the backing band? They spent a lot of time & money on the cover shoot and the Gibb Bros. images, but the band were relegated to what clearly are hasty, badly-overlit flash images probably taken backstage at a show. Very similar to a bad mug shot taken at a police station!

great soul/ disco album a little too slow for my taste and one cringey song. but it had mostly good catchy songs that are good for listening alone. 8/10
