Talk Talk – The Party's Over

2017 remaster/reissue of an 80s new wave masterpiece. Talk Talk must be recognized as one of the most innovative & talented bands of the era. Incredible magic is made by these 4 bandmates,all contribute to the amalgam that is TT.

I was worried about this one as my experience of white records is mixed. There was some heavy noise initially but it soon stopped. Very happy overall. Sounded excellent.

The pressing is wonderfully quiet. No problems there whatsoever. However, the mastering is a little thin throughout -- a little disappointing in that department.

I bought my copy new in August 1982, and it did not come with a printed inner sleeve with the lyrics on. It came with an EMI Records Limited company inner sleeve with record care tips. Patent number 1.125.555, DRG Packaging Bags logo, and with 5/82 printed on it.

Not sure if this is the best pressing of this album because I'm sure it's not but this is something to definitely test your system out with. There's so much going on in this album!

My 40th White Vinyl Anniversary edition is pressed very well with a quiet background. Lovely textured cover as on the original. Although a noticeable improvement over my 1987 UK CD version, especially in the bass, as with all 1980's synth pop music everything seems to cut off below about 40 Hz to keep it bopping along. Probably not as revered as other of Talk Talk albums, but still my favourite as it has some great hit tunes and real 'ear worms'.

Lots of cracks and pops, and audio problems. Very different to It´s my life purple edition.

Approached this with some caution, but it's a fantastic pressing. Not a blemish in of snap, crackle and pop. Flat as a pancake. Sounds fantastic.

My copy is absolutely fantastic. Flat, centred and dead silent.

The cover is also a perfect replication of the original UK edition and is worth owning just for that alone.

However, the mix was never great to begin with so don’t expect an audiophile presentation for this new wave classic.

Compared side by side with an original 1982 US release, the punch and dynamics are there, but not quite as pronounced and nuanced as the original. Thinking maybe they decided there wasn't enough headroom in the original, so they gave it some! Still a decent sounding press, but be ready with the volume knob.
