Essential ambient guitar trance and a peak for the System 7 discography. It's a case of more is more when Hillage gives us exquisite soloing on Batukau, but the gliss picking of Alpha Wave and Sirènes remain crystalline and elevating to this day. A unique take on trance music, Steve and Miquette's prior musical experience pushing it in their own direction. I'd argue that, along with System Express and Power of Seven, this is their peak before descending into far more generic, over-produced pristine modern trance in the 2000s. -

Half this album is more Water than Fire: "Overview", "Dr Livingstone I Presume", "Batukau" in particular and "Mysterious Traveler" & "Gliding On Duo-Tone Curves" borderline cases
Either element, it is choice listening! "Radiate" and Batukau are the only tracks out of place. The latter begins pleasantly but Hillage drenches it in guitar, like it was 1977 all over again, a case of less is more. -
