Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart

I'm usually skeptical of these funky colour editions but my copy sounds great and overall better than I expected!

For me it’s highly misleading and annoying when “official” labels like Cleopatra release unofficial bootlegs. I also don't understand how it is legally possible to keep producing them. Here in you are severely punished financially for selling a bootleg on ebay as a private person. I like a lot of Cleopatra releases, but these illegal releases make me doubt. What about the Duran Duran vinyl, for example? Official? Really?

Sound very bad, maybe the plastic "glow in the dark"

This is worth it just for that jack-o'-lantern hype sticker alone. I mean, c'mon!

Sleeve is a decent thickness, print quality is solid. Disc is housed in a generic black paper sleeve. The disc itself is more of a translucent orange than was pictured in promo images by Cleopatra. The disc feels a tad bit thin as well. The only other production drawback is that the printing on the center label is slightly pixellated. Sound quality wise, the tracks are from the "Martin Hannett Tapes" so they are a different remix from the album and single versions, and are a bit lo-fi. The instrumentals are sharp but Curtis's vocals are definitely the most evidently altered by this mixing. Other than that the sound quality is really good, especially for a bootleg. It honestly sounds pretty cool although jarring at first if you are used to the officially pressed mixes. There was also little to no surface noise, which was pleasantly surprising. If you are a serious Joy Division collector these tracks might be a fun addition to your collection!

Hmm not a fan of the "alternate versions". Was super excited to get this but didn't realize it was an unofficial release. Oh well. The quality of the vinyl itself it fine, the edits just sound weird.

The 12" remix sounds a little rough to my ears, but I think this is worth it for Leaders of Men alone. That punchy bass on vinyl is next level!
