Rank 1 – Airwave

Fantastic track but unfortunately another UK release butchered, as was quite common at the time. Almost 2 minutes edited from the original mix, which seems quite unnecessary as it's nowhere near the ridiculous 20 minute UK singles rule that was in force at the time of release. If you're looking for a copy then definitely seek out the original import or Manifesto promo version instead of this one.

One of THE defining tracks of 1999. A high compliment indeed considering the abundance of amazing trance released that year. It came out late in the year - the Dutch imports appeared in the UK around early December time if I correctly. But it still managed to blow everybody's socks off.
It managed to stand out as fresh, different and captivating even among the many shining beacons that preceded it in the previous 12 months. Rank 1 vs Dutch Force mix is the one. Sounds as good as ever to this day.

unless you really want the Junior Vasquez mix, avoid this release. The mastering is brickwalled to death.

Are there any more people still playing the Rank1 vs. Dutch Force Remix? I love how it has a little bit more power and plays around with the main melody's notes a little, yet remains close enough to the original :)

Definitely Rank 1's finest hour IMO with this classic trance anthem. One of the best breakdowns you'll ever experience & still sounds as fresh today as way back when released 20 years ago. Both mixes are equally amazing on this release but my favourite is the Rank 1 Vs Dutch Force remix. The ATB remix which features on the vinyl promo of this release Airwave is an excellent effort also. The hairs still stand up on the back of my neck when I play this record. This is another classic that people will still love & appreciate 20 years from now!

These tunes came out when I was at college studying Music Tech. I was just learning about melodies and such & always a guy on my course played this just about perfectly, discovering all the notes and chords himself which I thought was genius

The Junior Vasquez mix almost made me throw up my bran flakes with those hideous vocals. The chillout Mix on the other hand is excellent and well worth hunting this down for.
