Notes
Scream Bloody Gore is the debut studio album by American death metal band Death, released on May 25, 1987, through Combat Records. It is considered by some to be "the first true death metal record". Chuck Schuldiner played bass and guitar, wrote all the songs on the album and provided all the vocals. John Hand is noted on the cover as playing rhythm guitar, though this was incorrect and Hand was only in the band for a short period and was not on the recording. This is also the only Death album to feature drummer Chris Reifert, who had ed for the Mutilation demo, and the only one of the band's albums to not be recorded at Morrisound Recording

I got a beautiful copy. Very punchy and the bass is very prominent which I like. And the red makes this record so much better -
Scream Bloody Gore is an album that became legendary during the band's lifetime, and even more iconic after its death. A simple and soulful Thrash / Death from very young guys. Perhaps this album has become one of the most "quoted" in their career, because the influence of this record is difficult to overestimate.
This press is very good, a lot has already been said about the toxic colors of the vinyls and the metal covers. The whole series of reissues suggests that if you are a serious collector, then you need all six albums in one design code. There are already so many of these reissues that some s may have several different sets here. Hunters of the "exclusive", printed in 14,000 copies, will have a real pleasure. The sound, despite the DR10 values, feels quite powerful and punchy, Leprosy has about the same values, but there the sound came out completely flat and lifeless. Again, without Chuck and taking into the recruitment of a new line-up of musicians to record each of the albums, it is not entirely clear from which sources and by whom the release of remastered versions is authorized, but SBG, according to subjective feelings, turned out to be quite organic and close to the original. Most likely, when listening to this vinyl, you will get some pleasure.
Of course, there were some unpleasant surprises from Relapse and GZ. It was this vinyl that I had to buy twice, because the first time the record came deformed with just a huge wave and and with creases on the jacket, which is why it had to be sold for half the price. Talking about quality control from these companies is pure bluff, because new copies were purchased through an official distributor. However, on the second attempt, the record came perfectly smooth and without any problems with playback. Of course, in the absence of a protective inner envelope, the plate came with paper dust, but fortunately, there were no disadvantages after cleaning. Nothing changes for the cunning spivs, and they do not leave a choice to purchase a better product. Try your luck if you like Death! -

If you are looking for the original mastering for a fraction of the price, this is it.
Band pictures are in B/W instead of color and Production Credits, Band Thanks and Lyrics are missing here but the mastering is digitally identical to the first edition.

Is this considered the very first pressing? There’s a few 1987 variants but none indicate which is the original variant. -

Great old sound , no horrible remaster , it's really great edition -
Whole lotta yapping from everyone else here. The pressing sounds amazing, the best I've heard it before

I'm searching for a 1987 cover, me to [email protected] -
Looks like candy, yum yum.
Sounds just as one would expect a Death album to sound. The jacket has a foil effect that's... interesting. Not sure what make of that. -
Edited one year agoThis edition sounds good for a modern metal reissue on vinyl. Great to have the two CD bonus tracks on vinyl (a single LP) now. The mastering has more bass, compared to the original releases, but it works fine. As on 90% of modern vinyl releases, the volume level could be a little higher, but it is okay.
It seems that there are different cuttings from different countries available, all released with the same catalogue number. There is a EU pressing and a "Made in Poland" edition. All differ in size of the runout grooves on both sides which is a sign for different cuttings. My copy has the small runout grooves (as shown on the pictures here), so it seems to be the USA cutting. Anybody out there who did a comparison between all editions from RELAPSE and can tell us if the sound is also different, compared to each other ?
