Plays great. 7" in Mint condition. Sleeve is OK. Classic

First pressings of this were issued on the blue map Motown label. This is a 2nd pressing from somewhere around the second half of 1977.

this track was not performed or recorded live at the LP it was a home recording and overdubbed by Mr Gaye this was a massive motown lie and punters should NOT fall for it!
It is included on the live album but that is as far as it goes................shameful

Marvin Gaye was less successful in the UK where he managed to score only a handful of hits during his lifetime. This is one of only 4 Top 10 UK solo hits Marvin achieved. In recent years the song became central to a plagiarism case involving Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke who were accused of using it in large part on their massive international hit Blurred Lines.

this song was never part of the set at any of the Palladium shows. Hence why no live at the palladium footage, just a badly mimed performance on Soul Train but hey ho.
The promo 12" is a total waste of money the track came out commercially on a UK 12" B side "disco eyecued track"

WOW - what an amazing record! Classic Marvin Gaye awesomeness complete with the funkiest funk imaginable - You would be such a fool not to like such an incredible tune.

I actually bought this for 'All Night Long', as I already owned 'Got To Give It Up' on an old 12" I found years ago. As it turned out, when I attempted to dig out my old original Motown 12" to compare the sound quality with this boot, I discovered it was nowhere in my collection. So, I either dreamed ever owning it, or it was snaffled (along with a long list of other tunes) by an ancient ex-girlfriend who undoubtedly won't even have a turntable in her house. C'est la vie, it's best not to think about these things, so my official line is usually; 'I must've dreamed it'.

Marvin Gaye’s daughter Nona Gaye wept as the verdict was being read and was hugged by her attorney, Richard Busch.
“Right now, I feel free,” Nona Gaye said after the verdict. “Free from ... Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke’s chains and what they tried to keep on us and the lies that were told.”
The verdict could tarnish the legacy of Williams, a reliable hit-maker who has won Grammy awards and appears on NBC’s music competition show The Voice.
An attorney for Thicke and Williams has said a decision in favor of Gaye’s heirs could have a chilling effect on musicians who try to emulate an era or another artist’s sound.
The Gayes’ lawyer branded Williams and Thicke liars who went beyond trying to emulate the sound of Gaye’s late-1970s music and copied the R&B legend’s hit Got to Give It Up outright.
