This record is a beautiful secret. Works by german painter and sculptor Winfried Mühlum-Pyrápheros for organ, percussion and violin.
What you will hear there is 12 immersive, discrete and overwhelming musical stasis. Nothing to be compare to any boring academic 12 tones serial shit as too many composers were doing at the time. These works share a common spirit with composers like Morton Feldman, somehow Ligetti, Scelsi or even Crumb.
Motionless soundscapes, a little swell of sounds, quietly transforming patterns of chords, sonic embroyderies (and you don't know what instrument you are exactly listening to), mesmerizing halo of frequencies.
What is also impressive is that, this 12 short pieces sound neither short or long, they sound like portions of eternity...
This is a very intense work by this artist who wanted to create a contemplative atmosphere with sounds for his exhibitions. And this is a complete succes !
Nova Musica Contemplativa is certainly a must have for anyone who have an interest in minimal composition, shadow music, and artist who have a know how to make time stand still. -
