A note about this acetate -
This remix is the first/original version of the mix.
This mix and the 'Bass Bug Mix' have exactly the same sequencing, but the 'Bass Bug Mix' has two additional hi-hat patterns that play through the entire track (which are not present in THIS version).
They can easily be mistaken to be the same mix, but they are not.
The addition of the hi-hats in the 'Bass Bug Mix' gives the track a cleaner, clearer mix-able feel with the percussion acting as an obvious metronome. This original version is a little muddy/heavier (read - more prevalent bottom end sound) in comparison, but by no means inferior.
This acetate is definitely a rare gem in the SLACKER discography and a hell of a remix.
Thank You Shem. -

does anyone know why the vocals on no man army were omitted for this release? is it a legal issue or something? -

The recording quality of this version is poor
Don’t know if anyone else has experienced this with this pressing -

SMBU is menacing big beat built from heavily disguised samples of '60s jazz, '70s funk, '80s hip hop and '90s rock, and the Prodigy's own distorted synths, electronics and vocals. It builds up with some repeating guitar stabs (taken from Kool & The Gang's "Critical Beatdown").
The innovative bridge section breaks down and builds up masterfully with a looped-up sample of a wah-wah electric guitar (from RATM's "Song To The Siren").
Maxim's eponymous vocal, copied from Ultramagnetic MCs "Give The Drummer Some", was defended by the band as being a metaphor for "doing anything intensely". However, it's difficult to see past the misogynistic connotation, and what should have been a musical triumph was banned from public broadcast and shunned by peers such as the Beastie Boys as a result (although it still reached #8 in the UK singles chart). As of 2023, The Prodigy have removed the offending vocal from their live renditions. (9) -

The remix of DJ Hype is pure science.
Maybe the best remix anyone has done for The Prodigy -

The value of this record has soared after the sad ing of Prodigy frontman keith Flint and prog-house guru Shem McCauley aka Slacker, this was hammered by Sasha on its release, most-famously at Homelands in 2000 back2back with John Digweed. Slacker transforms this no question, he had the midas touch, keeping the main elements but adding a nice prog twist to proceedings. The rumours about Liam Howlett trying to block this release because he hates house music is complete bollox, there were licensing issues with XL recordings hence why this has its own release, originally this was due for release sometime earlier than it actually was, R.I.P. I think these tracks are still unbeatable, even they were created almost twenty years ago. -
Both remixes are by Slacker. He made the b side breaks mix in 2004. I brought his entire collection before he emigrated to Thailand .

Why nobody mentioned the similarities between The Prodigy's Smack My Bitch Up and Junkie XL's Dealing With The Rooster? I read everywhere that Junkie XL copied Smack My Bitch Up but Dealing With The Rooster was first released in March 1997, 3 months before Smack My Bitch Up was first released! -

Does anybody know if the version with Sheila Chandra - Nana (The Dreaming) was released?
