Edited 6 years agoI don't speak African languages at all, but for those who don't know, this song speaks about an “exuberant love, along with those petty material conflicts in our lives from which we must distance ourselves, those paltrinesses of earthly life, while the need we have to approach other people is the best way to bring down barriers”, as Wes Madiko himself used to describe it in his liner notes.
The female vocals (kind of Arabic-style) in some parts of the song, and this catchy 90's dance beat, made by the producer Michel Sanchez (from Deep Forest), are mixing a universal and inspirational sensation and fit perfect to Wes' vocals. And the a capella from the Tony Moran's main mix, which includes some English lyrics sang by an unknown lady, is good too and it has Wes' voice in pure awesomeness that made something so original.
The song "Alane" was the opening theme of a television series from Chile that is called "Borrón y Cuenta Nueva" (1998).
There's also a Spanish version of this song made by a female Mexican singer named Aranza: this version is called "Besos al Aïre" and it was released in 2000, though it was not included in any wikipedia of the original song.
Also also, the 90's was a good decade genically, with this "world music" genre, the eurodance, house and techno. Those were the good days too!
